COURSE OBJECTIVES

Substations are a critical component of the electricity supply network whether it be to connect generators to transmission systems or deliver electricity to end users. This course provides an overview of the substation design process and includes description of the key components of substation design. The course is suitable for all individuals working in the electrical power engineering industry. On completion of the course participants will have gained the following:

  • The role and importance of substations in electricity supply systems
  • An understanding of the key components of substations
  • Knowledge related to substation layout and switching arrangements
  • Appreciation of substation secondary systems
  • An understanding on maintenance requirements for substation equipment

COURSE BENEFITS

This course is designed to assist organisations in the training of new and existing staff in the fundamentals of substation design. The course is designed to cover a wide range of substation design principles and techniques, with a particular emphasis on the substation as a total system. Further, the changing role of substations in the broader electricity supply grid is discussed, including environmental considerations, grid configuration, reliability scenarios and failure modes.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This course is useful for individuals who are commencing a career in substation design as well as those looking for a refresher on the fundamentals of substation design. Anyone who is seeking a greater understanding of substations in terms of why substations are configured and how they operate will find course content with which they can engage. Individuals who are looking to expand their knowledge of substation design and operation for applications across traditional energy transmission and distribution, mining, manufacturing, renewables and energy generation will be presented with up to date knowledge and understanding of substation design principle, details and approaches.

TRAINING INVESTMENT

The course investment provides for an inclusive industry related training package including course notes. The course fee is AUD $1770 including GST per person.
Participants may count course hours towards their continuing professional development requirements.
NOTE: Arrangements for accommodation are the responsibility of participants and costs are not included in the course fee.
