With the aging of the Australian substation and switchyards redevelopment is now common place.  In addition to the typical project management risks of cost and time, brown field sites present additional challenges of space constraints and supply demands during constructions.  To meet the demands of brown field sites, Entura have developed a number of design process and systems for improved  customer outcomes.  This presentation will share how point cloud scanning and subsequent 3D modelling is being using during the conceptual design phase. This leads to greater certainty new plant will fit with confidence that the electrical safety clearances will be achieved.  In this presentation we will demonstrate the advantages of early 3D modelling and some of the solution developed for difficult locations.
